Kayin is a proud Kittitian born and raised in the twin island federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis. His home provided a rich environment for reflection, curiosity and learning. After leaving St.Kitts to pursue his undergraduate and master's degrees in New York, he explored artistic and educational spaces that nurtured and cultivated his talents as a writer, educator, storyteller and choreographer.

In 2019, Kayin founded the Montreal Steppers which is a performance collective and non-profit organization committed to the art form of step. The organization centers the importance of Black Lives, Black history/futurity and stories in hopes to inspire, strengthen solidarity, to reimagine a just world where we can breathe, live, succeed, and thrive differently and together.

Kayin was named a CBC Black Changemaker in 2023 for his dedicated community work which connected him with over 25,000 participants through educational workshops and master classes in Halifax, Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, San Francisco, Vancouver and South Africa.

Kayin has written and produced several original productions that explore Black diasporic life and resilience in Canada in the afterlife of slavery. He co-developed a stepping course - The Art of Stepping- Black Theory and Movement which he has taught at the National Theatre School of Canada since 2021.
